Your lies are like embers on a slow burning fire,
Glaring at me through the smoke and the heat.
The closer I get, the more my face burns
And I can’t see.
I watch them glow against the blackness of the coal;
Menacing.
There’s a rhythm to your hum
And I’m not prepared to listen
Yet I cannot back away.
I want to believe you and live in your warmth
But the heat is too much for my fragile skin.
You burn me.
Over and over.
So callous.
So rough.
